Kununurra DHS - Lilly's Dreaming

A delightful story full of images of the Kimberley and one person's search for identity. Makes one want to move up into the north of Western Australia.

Blythe Spirits - Diver and the Dungeon Danger

They had a wonderfully sardonic dog. This team proved the importance of detailed planning in the first hour, and delivered their book with seconds to spare, confirming that even 80+yr olds can do it.

The Yart Class - Pink Girl Tagged

A street-kid saga around the old and the new in East Perth, with striking illustrations by Joanna Lefroy Capelle. The post-completion party was amazing.

Perth College under 18 - Celestial Aspirations

Mythical figures mixed with modern characters powerfully create a moral tale. The sound character-planning at the start certainly paid dividends. They, and the Kununurra Mob, have laid down an exciting challenge to other schools.

Perth College Junior Sch. - The Truth of the Crystal Murder

A scheming witch and a topical issue involving an illegal immigrant combine to form another delightful illustrated story. Completed with remarkable teamwork, and an enormous amount of laughter.

Sandy's Storytellers - Fiery Fundraiser

A forest fire threatens the local bush dance. A young girl uses all her skills to fetch the volunteer fire brigade. A lot of local knowledge here. The pizza boy transfers his affection from his pet spider.

Esperance SHS - Barking up the Wrong Tree

An artist and a hockey player become involved in a logging dispute in the State's south west, helped by a wonderful dragon lizard. The 70 meg of pictures just would not transmit on the Internet.

Leinster SHS - The Green Desert

This mine school, located deep inland and halfway into the Western Australian desert, came to Perth to compete. This was a story of conflict between development and the rights of traditional owners. This was a remarkable piece of teamwork by a group composed of students with incredibly different backgrounds, ages and ability.

Lauds of Nirvana - JAZ

A delightful story of a gang leader, a lonely derro cyclist, mother's antique shop and a sea creature off the north mole of Fremantle Harbour, with echoes of the post vietnam war recognition marches.

Applecross SHS - Vengeance

Garden Island off the coast of WA has been taken over by a ruthless and rampant US robot that seeks to dominate the world. .... Now read on! Spectacular illustrations from a school that specialises in art.

Linda Nixon - Keeper of the Keys

Toxic waste, dead numbats, and adventures in, around and under the local dog pound ... and a magic key. And of course, dogs.

Shire of Mundaring - Gothic Guardian

An under-18 yr old group composed this fascinating story which includes a boy's recurring dream of spectators round his own grave. Each time he has the dream he finds himself closer to his grave. An athlete finds there is life after losing both legs.

The Kununurra Mob again - The Macronamede Crystal

Strangely this was the only space story. Far from the Kimberley, on a world of three dying planets, an animal lover, a rebel and invisible friend escape the powers of darkness and find a crystal that will save their world.

Corey's Group - A Twist in the Bend

A fascinating group from all over the Perth Metro area, a mixture of students, parents, grandparent and a 3-month old baby. A racy story of a shapely sky-diver, a monosylabic guitar player and an inn-keeper who is not all he seems to be. This multi-sexual love triangle mixes it with some incredible country cops around the Mundaring forests, pubs and the weir.

Nedlands Primary

An athletic soccer player is torn between his love of the game and a beautiful princess who is also desired by the local werewolf. This is a story of love and danger with an ending that makes one's hair stand on end.

Parkerville Primary - Elvis and Giselda

The youngest group to enter the competition. They hand-wrote their book. An 80yr-old hermit Italian singer living in a wreck off the coast of Kalbarri, is rescued by an ugly but kind witch and her amazing transformer cat and fierce rooster from the clutches of a bikie gang, with, of course, pictures on almost every page.

Westfield Writers - OOPS!

A pretty young witch, the class fool and a talking flesh eating plant finally break the spell in a tree house.

Newton's Group - Gummo Bug

Over ten thousand words about the friendship between a Russian Olympic acrobat who keeps a scrap yard and a school boy with a passion for making scultures, a dread of nightmares and a metal pterodactyl.
